we are back in the 30s in places like napa. that makes this the coldest morning we have had in the past week and a half. 37, napa. 44, concord. 42 degrees in livermore. starting out with the 50s, we have had pretty good cloud cover. we are starting out nice and clear because of all that wind. it tends to keep our atmosphere mixed up. and keep that moisture from settling in. no fog to report at this point. i do want to talk about the winds for today. we have another disturbance headed our way. let's talk about that. take it right to your futurecast. we stop the clock as we head through the second half of the day. 3:00 to 4:00. hot pink all across the bay area. 50-mile-per-hour wind gusts on the way yet again. we have this really unstable atmosphere with the jetstream situated on top of us. winds will start to relax as we head through the overnight hours and tomorrow looks a lot better. then the warmup is on. high pressure takes control. this guy is going to bring our numbers up toward 90 degrees. enjoy the 70s today and tomorrow

farther north in napa county incredible video, a tree blowing down onto a truck, just north of napa off highway 29, of course it took more work there to chop that tree up as well, get that out of the way. chp was out there for a while helping with that mess. there is the wild fire that we showed you at the top of the show burning along the eastern shore of lake berryessa. at one point this fire reached more than 500 acres, the good news this morning is firefighters have been able to get that contained and even brought the fire down to about 375 acres. it took them -- took the efforts of ten fire engines, two bull dozers working all night long to even make that much progress on the fire. we were able to catch up with one firefighter earlier to talk to us about how these winds are affecting that wildfire. >> right now we're under a red flag warning for critically high winds and low relative humidity, combined with the seasonal drying of the vegetation, this does make it a critical time for fire control and fire behavior for us in the north half of the state of california. >> reporter: you

it is napa. coolest spot we're seeing now where we have fog and not much wind around the north bay now but by sundown tonight we'll see winds picking up out of the south with a cold front on the approach. that's going to bring us rain starting off maybe earlier in the afternoon in the north bay and then moving south later in the evening. winds at times up to 30 miles an hour. gusty at times this evening and then as the main cold front goes through, more showers to follow and lowering snow levels to finish off the week. today we'll see increasing clouds, rain dropping out of the north bay into the evening. first part of the commute is dry and toward midnight you can see rain crossing through the south bay. a dry start to 2013 so far so this system if it can drop at least a half inch of rain in parts of the bay area could easily be the wettest storm we have seen so far and maybe the snowiest in a while for the sierra. looking at more than a foot of snow coming down above 5,000 feet. that's good new
